Introduction to the project
Exploration and Discovery
The project was introduced by a Subtraction Cutting and Wearable Architecture demonstration by Julian Roberts. His method reduces waste material and is therefore more environmentally friendly.
We then began trying out the techniques discussed in the lecture, exploring 3D hollow shape-making in rough prototype form, and building experimental shapes from which 2D pattern plans can potentially be made.
These shapes might be garments, tents, building structures or hollow product forms. This was a fast pace exploration exercise.

Getting involved
We wanted to design a lightweight wearable shelter that could be worn as a rucksack; able to carry belongings as well as children.
This rucksack would also contain a blow - up tent that could be connected to others to create a safe communal environment.
Our rucksack contains a kit of essential belongings.
Our goal
Designing our Rucksack / tent for a Refugee
